We will explain here, how to disable automatic updates of Windows 10, so that the operating system will only do so when you enter Windows Update deliberately to check for updates. If you are one of those people who wants the least possible automation to manage the computer resources to your liking, this can be interesting. Although notice that it is not very simple.
By default, in Windows Update settings you are allowed to configure in many ways how Windows 10 manages updates, but with no option to disable them completely. However, there are other methods to disable automatic updates that are not in the configuration menus, but hidden in other more advanced internal operating system options.
Turn OFF automatic Windows Updates:
Windows 10 updates behave like any process. What you need to do is prevent it from starting with the system, and for this the first step is to open the start menu and run the Services application. To do this, it is enough that you write services.msc in the start menu, which will show you the specific application you need.
Once you enter the services application, you will see that a huge list of processes appears. In it, go down to the bottom until you find the Windows Update option and double click on it to open a new window with options.
In this new window that opens, at the top you have to click on the General tab (1). It is where you enter by default, but it never hurts to verify that you are in it in case you change it unintentionally.
Once there, open the drop-down menu of the Startup Type field, and choose the Disabled option.
Now you just have to click on the Apply button to apply the changes. When you do, restart your computer, and when you re-enter Windows you will no longer have to worry about automatic updates again. Of course, it will still be advisable to go to Windows Update from time to time to receive system updates, as they help to be protected against threats and receive new features and corrections.
